Current Activities:
Conferences and Workshops
The main annual event is the Tag des Systems Engineering (Day of Systems Engineering). This two day conference is traditionally held in November. It consists of public presentation tracks featuring achievements in systems engineering applications and other subjects of general interest. At the end the annual general meeting of GfSE takes place.
The Day of Systems Engineering is complemented by so called Anwenderforen (User Forums). User Forums are thematically more focussed. They are scheduled for a one to two days duration. The presentation track is regularly augmented by some workshop elements, and, if possible, a social event in order to enrich the communication between all participants.
Workshops are GfSE meetings where one or more GfSE Working Groups convene to advance their topic or people with special interest and topics come together to discuss and solve it.
In addition to events GfSE organises on its own, GfSE cooperates with other organisations further conferences regularly or in special occasions.
Internal Working Groups
Internal Working Groups consider systems engineering subjects for a better understanding and for advances to the particular topic. Emphasis is placed on translating systems engineering theory to practical application in middle-European organisational environments.
Currently, working groups on three subjects are active with a further one being in preparation:
- Systems Engineering for Small and Medium Enterprises
- Design to Cost
- Model based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Systems Engineering Training and Education
Awards
One indirect outcome of the first Educational Forum 2005 is the preparation of an award package for master and diploma theses.
Authors of high quality master and diploma theses considering systems engineering subjects and completed in 2005 are possible candidates for the award. The award criteria comprise a review of the master and diploma theses and an assessment of the communicational skills of the authors when presenting their theses.
The underlying objective of the award is to join university and industry with interests in systems engineering in a combined effort for fostering an improved recognition of systems engineering as a profession and as a key factor for success in engineering complex systems.
Members:
GfSE has currently more than 300 members. In addition to a personal membership package, GfSE offers a local corporate membership that has attracted twenty-six organisations up to now.
