Toolvendor Challenge
The challenge describes a fictional company that is developing a system to which all the conference attendees can relate. A 'high level' description of this system has been supplied to the participating vendors. Click here to go to the problem statement.
Each vendor is expected to use SE techniques and their own tool to work out a solution to the problem. There are no specified limits to how many team members are involved in the solution, but no more than two presenters may be on stage. During the formal presentation, no marketing information may be presented, aside from the name of the company and product(s). Each vendor is expected to exhibit (at their own cost) during the EuSEC 2006, and to use the opportunity to present their solution to participants – there is no limit to the time that can be spent explaining the solution at the stand, or the “sales” content of the presentation at the booth.
For a first, limited functionality, version of the system, participants should:
| 1. | Compose system specification |
| 2. | Demonstrate requirements handling |
| 3. | Define the system in its environment |
| 4. | Define logical sub-systems, flows from sub-systems to the environment and flows between one sub-system to another |
| 5. | Define sub-system activities |
| 6. | Describe the functional modes of the system and transfers between them |
| 7. | Identify the main dynamic procedures in the different functional modes, and describe the control of two of the identified procedures |
There is time allotted on the second day of the Conference, in the Main Auditorium for presentations from each vendor.
